With chromed,
bullet-shaped front impact guards (the bullets were nicknamed "Mansfields" or "Dagmars",
after their resemblance to the bosoms of certain Hollywood starlets), their chromium
eggcrate grilles, and general stylistic ostentation, the 1957 Cadillacs were arguably
too extreme even for most Cadillac buyers. They were more
expensive than the Rolls-Royce of that year.
